Nature of Services
Guiding Light Recovery Services provides peer support and recovery coaching. Our services are educational and supportive in nature. We work alongside you to help you develop skills, create plans, and stay accountable to your recovery goals.
What We Are NOT
Recovery coaching is NOT a substitute for:
- Medical Treatment: We do not diagnose, treat, or manage medical conditions
- Mental Health Therapy: We are not licensed therapists, psychologists, or counselors
- Addiction Treatment: We do not provide detox, medication-assisted treatment, or clinical care
- Crisis Intervention: We are not a crisis hotline or emergency service
- Legal or Financial Advice: We do not provide professional legal or financial guidance
What We ARE
Recovery coaches are:
- Individuals with personal recovery experience (lived experience)
- Trained in peer support methodologies
- Focused on strengths-based, person-centered approaches
- Partners in your recovery journey, not directors of it
- Complementary to (not replacements for) professional treatment
Coordination with Treatment Providers
If you are currently receiving treatment from medical providers, therapists, or counselors, we encourage you to continue that care. Recovery coaching works best as part of a comprehensive support system. With your permission, we can coordinate with your treatment providers to ensure aligned support.
No Guarantees
While we are committed to providing high-quality support, we cannot guarantee any specific outcomes. Recovery is a personal journey, and results vary based on many factors including individual effort, support systems, and circumstances. Our role is to support and empower you in your journey—not to guarantee results.
Confidentiality Limitations
We maintain confidentiality of your information with the following exceptions:
- You give written consent to share information
- There is imminent risk of harm to yourself or others
- There is suspected abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult
- A court order requires disclosure
